Foods Which Speed Up The Metabolism

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOften enough just eating low carb foods isn’t enough. If you want to get rid of those pounds, or gain some lean muscle, you need kick-start that metabolism! Here are some great ways to get you there:

Spicy Foods

Ever remember eating a hot jalapenos pizza, and huffing and puffing with your eyes bulging out of your head? As your mouth gets set on fire, so is your heart, which sets your metabolism going on haywire! Start adding some fresh or dried chilies to your favorite dishes, or spice things up a bit with black or cayenne pepper. Watch how many curries you order though – they’ve still got a lot of calories!

Chewy Foods

No doubt you’ve heard the phrase ‘Eating a piece of celery burns more calories than it gives’ – well this is actually true! The best part is, there are many more items besides ‘rabbit food’ which you can leverage in exactly the same way. All kinds of greens (like spinach, lettuce, cabbage etc.) are fantastic, plus you get the added benefit of them being packed with vitamins and minerals. Be sure to eat plenty of raw fruit and vegetables as well – just remember that the more chewing you have to do, the faster your metabolism goes and the more fat you can burn! If you’re not a vegetarian, you can also take advantage of meat providing exactly the same benefit. In fact, any food high in protein is an awesome metabolism-booster, and like vegetables they provide extra work for your digestive system (= more burned calories).

Don’t go piling on the packs of chewing gum though – you don’t want to be choosing foods which speed up the metabolism but overload your body with sugar!

Sour Foods

Another great group of foods which speed up the metabolism are sour ones – just think how much your body is working when you screw your face up after sucking on a lemon! Why not add a couple of grapefruits to your weekly diet as well, or a squeeze of lemon juice in your tea instead of milk. Try experimenting with lime juice in your cooking as well – the possiblities are endless

More Great Foods Which Speed Up The Metabolism

Green tea has been well known for boosting your fat-loss, and since it’s loaded with antioxidants and is caffeine free, it’s no bad deal for your body. Did you know that drinking water actually boosts your metabolism as well? Furthermore, since it has zero calories, you’re effectively hyper-charging your fat-loss for free! Try to get at least half a gallon of pure water every day. Other great foods to skyrocket your circulation are: beans and legumes, oats, egg whites, and whole grains.

Low Carb Diet Menu

Hi. My names flex… and I know how you’re feeling.

776158_83344282

Just like you, I’ve been swung back and forth on the low carb diet train. Each person claiming theirs is the perfect formula, and all you want is a simple low carb diet menu to follow – it can’t be that much to ask, right?

But luckily I found something that makes things so much simpler.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve got enough in your life without spending hours researching what foods to eat.

1192445_51095811Even if you do find a low carb diet menu that’s reliable (and trust me, it’s getting harder these days with all the junk that’s on the internet), you then have to work out all the stuff that goes with it. You know, how much to eat, timing, what exercise to do – it all adds up.

That’s why I love this book so much – it covers all the bases, meaning you can relax knowing that you’re always moving in the right direction.

But how did I find it, you ask? Here’s my story…

********

Back when I was growing up I was just your average kid at school – not caring about how they looked, just up for having a good time.

Then one day I looked in the mirror – and my jaw dropped. All those years of indulging in endless after school snacks had finally taken their toll. I was fat.

Silhouette of cheese burger and summer garden vegetables

I was angry at myself. I tried everything to try and get rid of that painful flab. The flab that was becoming the butt of more and more jokes.

I tried one crazy idea after another, hoping I would find something that worked. Nothing.

Sound familiar?

In the end I got desperate – so I starved myself.

What I went through over the next couple of years was like a mental torment. OK, it worked – I got rid of the fat. But I felt like crap the whole time – and I looked even worse.

I was gaunt, ghost like – and I could have barely stood up to a kindergartener. This wasn’t what I wanted.

742370_58160536

I was sent to the doctor, who told me that if I didn’t put on some muscle I would be in trouble.

But that’s when the trouble BEGAN. As soon as the muscle started going on, so did the fat. I was going round in circles!

I scoured the internet for the right diet menu, something with which I could lose fat, but still look good and feel healthy. I tried everything:

  • Body building diet plans
  • Diets for athletes
  • Hey, I even emailed the head scientist for the Australian Olympic gymnastics team!

Back then a low carb diet menu was the last thing on my mind, and they were all supporting a high carb, low fat diet (not the best for losing fat, as we both know!). My search continued…

998625_12105627 (1)

That’s when I took a fateful trip to china – and it changed everything. I spent two months eating the so-called ‘fattening’ high fat, low carb Chinese food – but I was actually getting thinner!

My whole way of thinking had been flipped upside down.

I didn’t know any low carb diet plans so for the next few months I began madly experimenting with different foods, finding out which were the best for me, that I melted away the fat that I wanted.

But still, I wished that I had had something that could have made it easier for me.

I wanted something that could take out the stress, that I could follow while living an ordinarily life, spending time with my family, enjoying the things I wanted to do.

Then guess what? I found one.

It has everything I could have wanted, and I when I saw it I was kicking myself that I hadn’t seen it sooner.

All the information is laid out clear and simple so you don’t need to be an expert. Things like:

  • How to work your diet in the smartest way possible so you can lose weight while still enjoy all your favourite cheat foods
  • How to take control of your hormones for maximum fat loss
  • Fixing your metabolism to release your stubborn body fat (which most of us have made a BIG mess of)

14-day-ebook-cover-smallEverything is covered, from what to eat to when, so you don’t even have to create your own low carb diet menu like I did.

But most of all, with just 14 days on the clock you can get more results in two weeks than you have done in years – and repeat it as often as you like.

I hear they do a 60 day risk-free trial as well, so you can try it now with nothing to lose.

Featured Post: Killer Carb Depleting Tips

Here’s an article given to me by Shaun Hadsall, the author of the 14 Day Rapid Fat Loss Plan. He really know’s what he’s saying, so if you’re spinning wheels and need a helping hand, definitely give it a look:

3 Carb Depleting Tricks You Can Use to

DoubleYour Fat-Loss After a Weekend Binge

 By: Shaun Hadsall

Author of the 14 Day Rapid Fat Loss Plan

We’ve got to admit, we all “cheat” on our diets or go a little overboard on the weekends once in a while – you, me, EVERYBODY does it.

It’s just human nature and the way we’re ‘wired’ in today’s crazy world with convenience just around the corner.

If you’re really keen on burning an insane amount of fat WITHOUT obsessing over food all the time, constantly being cranky and irritable because you feel restricted, or worryingabout eating too many carbs and calories every frickin’ day – then you need the right strategy.

After all, WHO wants to deal with the pain and suffering of dieting down all the time?

01_insane_34933

It’s like taking a power drill to your head every day and every day and every day. OK…maybe it’s not THAT bad.But close.

If you’re anything like me, this is what leads to automatically associating misery and sacrifices with burning fat and losing weight.

We can fantasize about our leanest body all day long, but the bottom line is:

Extreme dieting is a pain in the butt.

And even if you’re one of the millions of people that has radically damaged and altered your metabolism from years of unhealthy eating, inconsistency or yo-yo dieting…

It’s Really NOT Your Fault.

The fact is, even though there are loads of weight loss plans that work, they’re specifically designed to be temporary. A quick fix. A short cut. That’s why more than 95% of people who “diet” gain all (or more) of the weight back within one year of losing it.

But – what you could make fat loss easier to stick to and enjoy? A way to strategically eat carbs and cheat foods as your best fat burning friends and kiss goodbye to diets – forever?

Well believe it or not, YOU have amazing fat burning potential right inside you. That’s right. At the end of the day we’re all human, and if others can do it, so can you.

It’s NOT about genetic superiority or

luck of the draw.

It’s about how you play the game.

And when you uncover how to use food Macro-Patterning™, you’ll see how you can easily make stubborn lower abdominal fat your primary “go to” energy source without old-school “dieting”.

Simply put, it’s your key to fix your broken metabolism and look your best ever – the fun way.

But first, it’s crucial to understand that there’s a specific pattern to how your body responds to food intake so carb cycling can work on your body properly.

Just remember that your body is always trying to evaluate and adapt to how much energy you’re taking in (calories and macro-nutrients) vs. how much energy you’re expending (burning off).

So you could think of your body like ‘the ultimate survivor’…

 imbalance3

To survive, your body has to keep the amount of energy it takes in and the amount of energy it burns off in balance.

So to conquer the fastest fat loss possible… all you have to do is manipulatewhere your body gets its energy, and force it you use your own fat as your go-to energy.

Remember, the moment your body knows you’re on a diet, it will start thinking ‘Oh my god, starvation!!!‘ and hold onto as much body fat as it can get hold of.

Your brain tells your body’s systems to do whatever they can to conserve energy. That means shut down body temperature, slow your digestion, and slow down your metabolism, so it can store as much fat energy as possible “just in case.”

But that’s where food Macro-Patterning™ comes to the rescue and provides a long term strategy to help you overcome the obstacles that BLOCK your fat loss…

Today I’m going to unlock the most powerful way to FORCE your metabolism to rewire itself so it can keep finding and burning body fat every single day.

I call the Holy Grail of healing a broken metabolism – Advanced Depletion.

Is YOUR Metabolism BROKEN?

Here’s how you can FIX it…

Advanced tricks like carb loading, re-feeding, strategic binging and ‘cheat’ days will all come later. First you have to teach your body where you fat is – and how to find it.

Structured carb depletion will create an environment for both instantaneous and long term fat loss while priming you body for a healthy calorie overload.

Remember, in order for ‘cheat’ days to work, it’s mandatory to work your body out first.

So when you plan this out and time it properly, the next time you tear up the buffet line or rip into that next pizza, you’ll be facilitating the fat loss process instead of blocking it.

At the same time you have to know that even though this is about putting the fun back into fat loss., sometimes super low calorie days, severe carb depletion and ‘clean’ periods will be a necessary evil. And for GOOD REASON.

Advanced Depletion can serve several powerful purposes:

  1. It reprograms and fixes your metabolism to teach it where fat stores are readily available for energy needs.
  2. One of the fastest ways to drain the body of carbohydrate stores and/or muscle glycogen.
  3. Lowers glucose and helps level and stabilize blood sugar to create an aggressive fat burning environment.
  4. Shuts off the body’s dependence on sugars.
  5. Primes your muscles and hormones to “want” and “need” more carbs.
  6. Creates a MASSIVE short term calorie deficit for extreme fat loss.

Plus, properly applied carb depletion “sets up” your metabolic foundation for the Macro-Patterning™ lifestyle to work properly.

The strategy may look complicated, but once it clicks (and it will, just like it did for me), your fat-burning becomes INSANELY easy.Like hitting the “reset” button on fat loss.

easy_button

Carb Depleting: Far from easy, but definitely worth it.

The Problem: Abuse

The problem is that many people think they know this strategy and make their own rules – which doesn’t work.

Here’s a quick example. For EVERY gram of carbohydrates you consume, your body holds about 3 grams of water.

Read that last sentence again so it sinks in.

Done? Good.

So even if you use a trendy, low carb diet (you know the ones I mean) and deplete on unhealthy foods, the scale tell you you’re losing a bunch of weight…and you are.

BUT it’s water weight – NOT fat.

Congrats. You just lost a bunch of water.

But what if you could switch it around – and make most of that loss fat loss instead?

Well, you can… if you understand how to deplete the RIGHT WAY.

How to Deplete Carbs theRIGHTWay After a Weekend Binge and Make Lower Belly Fat Your Primary “Go To” Energy Source

Depleting your carbs healthily so you get massive calorie deficit AND fat loss is as simple as 1,2,3:

  1. Try to consume zero starches or fruits for 3 or 4 days in a row during the week.

This will help accelerate glycogen depletion and get your metabolism ready for the weekend fun. This should give you a total of 25-50 impact carbs each day. Eat a decent source of protein in every meal to help keep you full and keep your body in a high-energy fat-burning environment.

You’ll program for huge fat loss using this several days a week.

  1. Increase your fats and double your servings of green cruciferous veggies on depleting days.

You’ve got to get energy and good stuff from somewhere. When you lower carbs you’ll automatically need energy from other sources. Friendly fats and low carb vegetables are your no.1 go to foods to help provide this needed energy.

Some good examples to use are extra olive oil, krill oil, coconut oil, grass fed butter and a few raw nuts for fats. Spinach, kale, asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage are great choices for extra veggies.

This will also get you all the fiber, vitamins, and minerals necessary to maximize your fat-loss AND keep your appetite satisfied.

  1. Double your daily water intake on deplete days and before noon on weekends.

OK it’s not ‘sexy’ – but it works.

And most folks don’t even begin to realize how powerful water can be to tackle post-weekend carb bloat and facilitating fat-burning processes.

Remember, if you cheated this past weekend you’ll be holding almost an extra 3 grams of water for every gram of carb you consumed. So if you had a few slices of pizza, some bread and a bowl of ice cream we’re talking an extra 600 to 1000 grams of water sitting under your belly skin.

Just lift up your shirt now and take a look. Yep. You can see it, right?

So here are a few fast fluid facts to help you keep in simple.

First, remember the starvation idea – not getting enoughof something just makes your body hold onto more of it. Sound crazy, but drinking water gets rid of water bloat.

Helping you look and feel leaner.

Also remember that all the processes that happen in your body work quicker with lubricating water – fat burning included.

A good rule thumb is to start with 100 ounces if you’re sedentary – and if you’re doing fat burning exercise (which you should be!) add 30, 60 or up to even 150 more on top of that.

You’ll also control your appetite and just “feel” a whole lot better when you’re hydrated.

But remember: Do NOT try to abuse the “deplete” day strategies above or they’ll backfire – just like exercise and cheating…

More is NOT better.

But you can feel free to use this type of approach for 3 or 4 days at time – before and after a junk food freak-out to serve as powerful damage control.

So now you can see carb depleting can actually be fun once you know how to do your cheat days.

That’s why it’s so key to deplete and carb load for the properdurations on specific days at specific times to avoid the adaptive response.

And it’s HUGE for your motivation… cause every week, you’ve got something to look forward to. OK, big grins allowed. Me too :D

That’s the real carb cycling advantage. Sanity.

TOO much Carb Depletion can make you lose you mind…

How You Can Use

Advanced Depleting as a “Lifestyle”

Is advanced carb depletion easy? NO. Is it worth it? YES.

Initially, advanced depletion seems like it can be a big pain in the ass, but remember to focus on the reward. You might have to sacrifice initially, but then you can start cheating and adding all your favorite carbs back into your plan.

Plus, if you’ve EVER dieted real hard, been up and down on the scale from yo-yo plans, or you’ve been living and eating kind of unhealthy, the likelihood of your metabolism being severely damaged is VERY high.

Don’t forget. THIS is how you can heal the damage.

Remember, your body is not a one cell amoeba. It’s a full-on rubix cube.

Low Carb Diet Victory: The End is in Sight

Picture yourself now. You step on the scales and realize you’re only a few pounds from your goal weight. What’s next?

The first step is to keep your head. Lots of people will give up right before the end, but this is where you need to keep on the most. You owe it to yourself. Those last pounds may be some of the hardest, but are always the most rewarding.

Put yourself in the frame of mind when you first started seeing the pounds disappear. That fight you had, knowing that you had a lot to lose but could do it, you’d seen it happen. Those last 10 pounds are just another 10, like all the ones you’ve lost already.

Now set your goal even lower. If you have 10 more pounds to lose, make it 20. The worst that will happen is you’ll stop halfway – but you’ve just reached your original goal. At best – hey, you might even get the 20!

Finally, make it no big deal – like all the other things you have to do in your normally routine. Take off the pressure, while still fighting inside. Then you’ll be unstoppable.

Carb Free Noodles: A Low Carb Diet Revolution?

Chinese New Year is upon us, and for most of us this means either breaking our diets carbing up on Chinese food or getting depressed at having to miss out. Either way, this spells oh noes!

But maybe not this time. MiracleNoodle.com have rediscovered – get this – and ancient traditional Japanese carb free, zero calorie noodle. Dieting of the 22nd century or what!

How it works

Chances are you probably know about the two types of carbs – digestible and indigestible  Normally noodles are made out of starchy foods like rice, wheat or potato and overloading on these can do damage to your waistline.

But the ‘miracle’ Shirataki (she-rah-tah-kee) noodles are made out of the indigestible carbs – cellulose – which pass straight through you. This is fantastic, as not only can you enjoy your favourite Asian dishes while sticking to your low carb weight loss regime, but you get added fiber as well. Which we all need more of.

The noodles are versatile meaning you can use them in soups, stir fries or anything you want. Plus they’re very easy to use so are well with in reach for the everyday dieter.

Personally, I can’t wait to try them out.

Carb Cycling or Standard Low Carb?

carb cycle

Carb cycling has given me great results as a step up from the standard low carb diet. So what’s it all about, and can it really help your fat loss as much as it did mine?

Here’s a low-down on the two methods and the pros and cons of each:

Low Carb

Cuts your carbohydrate intake (bread, rice, potatoes etc) to less than 25% of your daily calorie intake. When on a low carb diet, you get most of your energy and nutrients from proteins and fats.

The Good Stuff

  • Makes it possible for extremely fast fat loss
  • Encourages you to eat healthier, fat burning food (most ‘bad’ foods are high carb)
  • Good if you’re diabetics or have a poor insulin response

The Bad Stuff

  • Often leads low energy, lack of concentration and mood swings – hard if your job relies on these things
  • Can lead your body to ‘adapt’ to a lower metabolism
  • Awkward for going out, as pizza, pasta, sandwiches and many other staples are out of bounds
  • Cravings are more common
  • Hard to keep up if you do regular exercise or a sport you enjoy

The Paleo Diet is a popular choice for low carb diets.

Carb Cycling

Carb cycling works by switching between high and low carb and/or calorie days to ‘trick’ your body into faster fat loss.

The Good Stuff

  • Keeps your metabolism high and your energy and fat-burning up
  • No foods are completely off limits – so you can still go out with friends, and can even have that occasional cheat food
  • High carb days can be used to your advantage for heavier work/exercise demands
  • You get some variety in your diet rather than the same old every day
  • There’s always something to look forward to with a high day just around the corner

The Less Good Stuff

  • You have to set your high and low days and stick to them – takes willpower
  • If you’re diabetic you’ll still have to watch your sugar intake on the high carb days

Among carb-cycling diets, the 14 Day Rapid Fat Loss Plan is one of the best in terms ease and speed of results.

Hope this helps clear a few things up.

Low Carb Diet Menu – Vegetarian or Meat?

If you’re a vegetarian you may be asking – can I follow a low carb diet and still stick to my beliefs?

The answer is, of course you can. It may be easy to think that when you take out the carbs from the foods we see around us today what’s left is mainly made up of meat. But in fact, there are endless foods you can eat that fit in with your vegetarian diet.

Eggs are one of my ultimate favourites and on of the best foods you can have if you’re a non-vegan. They’re packed with the good stuff, and a prince in terms of protein (=more energy for you). And the chlolesterol? They actually don’t make a difference (I guess whoever said that didn’t like eggs or something).

So what if you are a vegan? I like experimenting with different kinds of nuts, seeds and oils. Avocados are also fantastic, so use them as much as you can – very few people have problems with them, so chances you won’t either.

Then when it comes to choosing your diet meal plan, what do you do? Yeah, there aren’t many low carb diet planners specific for vegetarians – but thats when you can get smart. Most meat dishes are easy to substitute – mushrooms, eggplant, nuts are all great for flavour – and a lot of them taste even better!

So no matter what you go for, it’s easy to work your menus around something that’s great for you.

Low Carb Diet Planner Tips – Quality Counts

Hmm. I have to cut out the carbs from my diet. What can I eat? Fried chicken. Bacon. Butter. Cream cheese.

When most of us go on a diet we think about watching the amount of food we eat – but WHAT we eat is just as important.

Good food speeds up metabolism. Good food burns more fat while you’re eating it.

What do I mean by good food? Basically it’s food high in nutrients – those little things we can’t see. Lucky for us, as low carbers we’ve already got a head start – most of the worst foods are high in carbs anyway.

If you’re a vegan it even easier. But if you do eat meat products, try to go at least 50:50 with some nuts & seeds as well. Natural peanut butter, guacamole, all that stuff tastes great and is good for you – pretty cool right?

Vegetables, nuts, seeds, maybe a bit of meat and cheese, so long as you’ve got a nice balance of these you’re A-OK.

Balance. Ah… balance. Remember that word….
